This beautifully decorated faience inkwell or inkstand is thought to be 19th Century Faience and although it does not have its original ceramic or pewter ink container and lid, it is still a highly decorative piece and can be used as a candle or match holder. The four holes at each corner are thought to have originally been used to hold quills.
Dimensions: height 4.5cm, 9cm square with tapered corners. Maker's name visible on base. Glaze and colour still good and no cracks. Some wear consistent with age.
