This antique pair of Staffordshire mantle dogs is chestnut and beautifully coloured with glass eyes! Increasingly rare, they date from circa. 1890.
More information: Staffordshire dogs with glass eyes typically date from the mid-19th century, with many examples from the period 1860–1890. This style became popular around 1860 and was more common on pieces from this era than on later versions.
Dimensions: height 28cm, width 17cm, depth (front to back) 9.5cm. Hand painted with moulded detailing including collar and chain. One has small chip to the base on the back - see images which form part of description. A handsome pair.
